MORNING DEVOTIONS

Psalm 19:14 is one of the best examples for morning devotions that link Scripture and prayer.

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.” (ESV)

Scripture is God’s word, God speaking to you. Meditation on Scripture means that you are accepting what God says and thinking deeply on the content. You are digesting the meaning. Then you pray about how hearing from Him can be applied in your own personal life. Donald S. Whitney in Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life says,

“Meditation is the missing link between Bible intake and prayer. Too often disjointed, the two should be united.”

Meditation on God’s Word is a catalyst to effective prayer. What does
“meditating on Scripture” mean to you?
