Google translate
For single words, it may be ok. On your phone you can even click on that word so that it is pronounced for you to hear.
For long passages of text, especially those that have multiple idioms, probably not. Go here instead to learn American idioms. Although Google Translate may be your first “go to” option, if you are translating a whole manuscript or a book, native speakers will often identify what does not make sense.
Pocket books
Some small books that have Spanish to English, French to English, Japanese to English, and more are available. These little books are easy for travel and quick for reference.
