3 Easy Spelling Tricks
Sing along with me and make a funny melody
English is one of the hardest languages to learn and to spell. With some funny tricks, these spelling games can make a difficult task a laughing matter. This is definitely not the way to prepare for the National Spelling Bee!
Sing along with me
Try this one from the movie Mary Poppins: supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and sing along here and smile!
Commercials are another way to hear the words and sing along. Check out the Coca-Cola jingle “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” that was adopted to sell more of their products around the world.
Make up your own jingles or separate syllables
Try the word mosquito, the little flying bug that bites your skin. Even as a young student under 10 years old, you may have divided that spelling word into syllables: mos-quit-o. You see it. It sounds like mos-key-tow. To spell it, though, remember the “quit” bit in the middle.
Ask Google or Grammarly to spell and pronounce it for you
Google Translate is an option. Some words are funny. Some translations are even funnier. Don’t rely on it for passing a test! Dictionaries are better and there are other tech tools developed now that serve you well.
Grammarly is a free writing assistant. It is another tool that corrects spelling and grammar errors. Though it it is not 100% accurate, it tends to help raise your awareness of some words that sound alike when used in specific contexts.
By the end, believe it or not, with some fun ways to practice you probably can spell that 36-letter word by singing it, one way or another.
